S. Sardara Singh Johal is a renowned economist who had prepared and submitted a report for crop diversification in Punjab in 1986. Later, he revised his diversification report in 2002 for the Punjab Government. While he was on administrative posts in Punjab government, he had made efforts to implement plan of crop diversification in Punjab, but, he says, due to lack of political will and foresightedness of Punjab politicians the plans of crop diversification could not be implemented. A team of Agriculture and Environment Center met S. Sardara Singh Johal during Jal Chetna Yatra and learned about his experience.
