Punjab is facing severe water crisis. Over 80% of Punjab’s rural development blocks are categories as ‘over-exploited’ in terms of ground water extraction. In this view using rain water, especially rain water collected from roofs of buildings, for ground water recharge is being advised. A team of Agriculture and Environment Center visited Khadoor Sahib during the Center’s Jal Chetna Yatra initiative. The team members met Baba Sewa Singh Ji, who presently heads the Karsewa Khadoor Sahib. He is a known environmentalist who is recently recognized by United Religions Initiative at the United Nations as UN Faith for Earth Councillor. Talking to AEC team, Baba Sewa Singh called upon people of Punjab, including the diaspora, to work for preservation of environment.
